To be a truly successful fly fisher you need to understand what trout eat. Trout can be baffling at times and knowing what they are feeding on will give you an edge over other anglers. This course will tackle the who, what, when, where and why of aquatic entomology associated with fly fishing.
Students will learn about insect “hatches” and why they are important to fishing. You will learn about the major species associated with fly fishing from the moment they begin their lives to their natural demise and why trout eat them at all stages. This class will get you ready to catch, analyze and finally mimic what trout feed on naturally all year round.
